The Autobiography of Malcolm X

The Autobiography of Malcolm X is one of my favorite books I’ve read during my short life. It’s one of those books that you can’t put down once you’ve started, but also requires multiple reads to fully digest what’s written.

I own several copies of this book, and felt like they all were designed so similarly. I attempted to approach the design of this book in a way that better visualized how multi-faceted Malcolm was as a husband, son, father, community member, and political figure. Portraits of Malcolm are by Richard Avedon. Crowd photographs are scanned from Edward Steichen’s Family of Man book.Spring 2020.
